About the Northeast Animal-Power Field Days

The Northeast Animal-Power Field Days (NEAPFD) was started in September, 2007 at the Tunbridge Fairgrounds in Tunbridge, VT. Featuring Lynn Miller (Editor for Small Farmers Journal) as the keynote speaker and Vermont’s Secretary of Agriculture Roger Allbee for the Welcoming Address, the event brought in over 1200 from all over the Northeast and beyond. (Visit our photogallery, which highlights many of our speakers, exhibitors and workshops from each year).

The NEAPFD is an educational event designed to highlight the on-going efforts of many people throughout the Northeast region, supporting, educating, mentoring and building community around the use of animal-power and renewable land-use.

As a result of this event, an on-line discussion forum was created (December 2007), called Draft Animal Power; Sustainable Farming, Forestry & Living. This website features discussions about working draft animals, sustainable farming, forestry, and building community, and it has grown into an international following of over 2,000 members in just 2 1/2 years.
